If you are considering enrolling in a class with Sharyn Underwood School of Dance  the following is some information to help familiarize you with our dance school and what we can offer your dancer.

Enrolment

All 2 - 6yr (Ready Set Dance Pre-School) classes run on a term by term basis, no exam, fun classes from ages 2yrs to 6yrs.

All other classes are Exam classes and are based on a yearly programme (intake *Term 1 & 4 each year) exams are usually held in the 2nd half of term 3.  *Intro 1-3 do not sit exams so mid year intakes are accepted.

Examinations are not compulsory in our studio but all students will learn the work required for an examination.

EXAM CLASSES — follow an exam programme, only one intake each year in Term 1.

Jazz – American Jazz Dance Affiliation (AJDA) from 7 years

Exam classes follow a syllabus programme, where students learn exercises/routines and then sit an exam during term 3. The examiners are sent from the different organisations and each dancer receives a report and certificate to advise their results.

Dancers enrolled in classes once you are confirmed for term 1 you will automatically be re-enrolled each term for the rest of the dance year. If for some reason you decide not to return for the following term kindly let us know.

Dates

We run with the school terms, 4 terms in a year. There are no classes held on Public Holidays.

Financial

Dance fees are paid on a term by term basis. You will receive an invoice within the first 2 weeks of each term, fees are due within 2 weeks of receiving the invoice. Fees can be paid by direct credit, or cash.

Additional to term fees there are:

Exam Fees: due prior to sitting examination.

Show Fees: Concert levy is required when show time approaches; biannually. 

Uniform: Jazz class students have a compulsory uniform which must be worn to every class. Uniforms are designed to be non-restrictive and to help the teacher see all parts of the body. 

Intro 1 - 4 = purples leotard, tights and black leather shoes.

Intro 5 and above = tidy tight fitting mufti top, black tights and black leather shoes. 

All items of the uniform can be purchased from the class teacher. 

Pre-school dancers have a complusory RSD tutu and black canva shoes, or blue RSD tshirt. There is a selection of other items that are not compulsory. These can all be purchased through the teacher.
